Our Mission is Clear:
Caring is Our Core

About Medic Ambulance

Since 1979, Medic Ambulance has proudly served the communities of Solano County and beyond, offering high-quality, family-centered emergency medical care. The company helped get its start when Rudy Manfredi, an EMT for Sacramento’s Superior Ambulance, had the vision to own an ambulance service in the late 1970s. Manfredi was made aware of an ambulance service in Vallejo that was for sale, by the father of his partner at the time. He then broached the idea with his parents Harry and Giannina Manfredi. Rudy, Harry, and Giannina Manfredi then purchased Berton-Aid Ambulance Service, from Jimmy Berton of Vallejo. The company was changed to Medic Ambulance Service on June 1, 1979. Medic Ambulance started with a pair of ambulances, a four-person ambulance staff, and a seven-person-employee answering service.

In 1980, Marisa Luchini, Rudy’s sister, joined as an owner. Helen Pierson, now CEO, also started her career with Medic in 1988. Over the years additional family members and key individuals like Kristi Kendall, past VP of Finance, Cynthia McBride, MSN, FNP, VP-Quality, Sandra Whaley, VP-Communications, and Jimmy Pierson, President/COO brought their talents and skills to the team. Through dedication and a focus on community investment, Medic has grown into a premier private ambulance service with over 650 employees and a fleet of nearly 200 vehicles.

Over the years, the Pierson family has led Medic in weathering challenges, from competitive contract battles to responding to Northern California’s devastating wildfires. This resilience has enabled Medic to expand its service across multiple counties, including Solano and Sonoma, while earning industry accolades, such as the prestigious Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services and the Accredited Center of Excellence distinction from the International Academy of Emergency Dispatch.

Today, Medic continues to invest in state-of-the-art technology and facilities to meet evolving healthcare needs. Medic remains committed to advancing emergency medical services. More than a business, Medic is a family legacy—rooted in compassion, driven by community, and devoted to saving lives.
